Annual Report on Travel, Hospitality and Conference Expenditures - For the period ending July 14, 2019
As required by the Treasury Board Directive on Travel, Hospitality, Conference and Event Expenditures, this report provides information on travel, hospitality and conference expenditures for Crown-Indigenous Relations and Northern Affairs Canada (CIRNAC) for the fiscal year ended July 14, 2019, except for information withheld under the Access to Information Act or the Privacy Act.
Travel, hospitality and conference expenditures incurred by CIRNAC relate to activities that support the department’s mandate and the government’s priorities.
CIRNAC’s travel, hospitality and conference expenditures support the delivery of the following core programs and services:
- accelerating the renewal of the relationship with Indigenous peoples;
- modernize institutional structures and governance to support self-determination; and
- advancing work in the North.

Significant variances compared with previous fiscal year
The decrease for travel, hospitality and conference expenditures from 2018-19 is $15.7 million. It is related to the fact that on July 15, 2019 Crown-Indigenous Relations and Northern Affairs Canada ceased to exists and transferred all of its operations to the newly Crown-Indigenous Relations and Northern Affairs that was established with the passage of the Department of Crown-Indigenous Relations and Northern Affairs Act by Parliament.
Minister and Minister’s Staff: Compared with fiscal year 2018-19, no international trips were taken for the period between April 1 and July 14, 2019.
