Transcript: Arctic and Northern Policy Framework

Canada has a new Arctic and Northern Policy Framework co-developed with Indigenous, territorial and provincial partners.

Building a shared, long-term vision to 2030 and beyond for Canada's North.

The Arctic and Northern Policy Framework is about strong, self-reliant people and communities working together to:

Support healthy and resilient families and communities in the Canadian Arctic and North

Strengthen infrastructure to close gaps with other parts of Canada

Build sustainable, diverse and inclusive economies

Ensure decision-making is guided by science and Indigenous knowledge

Safeguard the environment and conserve Arctic biodiversity

Enhance Canada's international leadership in the Arctic to protect and promote Canadian interests and values

Ensure that the Canadian Arctic and North and its people are safe, secure and well-defended

Support self-determination and mutually respectful relationships through reconciliation between Indigenous and non-Indigenous peoples
