Canada has a new Arctic and Northern Policy Framework co-developed with Indigenous, territorial and provincial partners.
Building a shared, long-term vision to 2030 and beyond for Canada's North.
The Arctic and Northern Policy Framework is about strong, self-reliant people and communities working together to:
Support healthy and resilient families and communities in the Canadian Arctic and North
Strengthen infrastructure to close gaps with other parts of Canada
Build sustainable, diverse and inclusive economies
Ensure decision-making is guided by science and Indigenous knowledge
Safeguard the environment and conserve Arctic biodiversity
Enhance Canada's international leadership in the Arctic to protect and promote Canadian interests and values
Ensure that the Canadian Arctic and North and its people are safe, secure and well-defended
Support self-determination and mutually respectful relationships through reconciliation between Indigenous and non-Indigenous peoples
