Non-Status Indians

"Non-Status Indians" commonly refers to people who identify themselves as Indians but who are not entitled to registration on the Indian Register pursuant to the Indian Act. Some may however be members of a First Nation band.

The Minister works with Métis and non-status Indian organizations, as well as with provincial governments where appropriate, to find practical ways to improve the quality of life of Métis and non-status Indians.
